Gender Equality

Creating equal opportunities for everyone

By empowering women and advancing gender equality, we help communities, economies, and businesses (including our own) to thrive. Here are some of the ways we’re working to improve gender balance at Vodafone and beyond.

Female leadership within Vodafone

We're committed to creating opportunities for women to grow and lead. Today, women hold 36% of our management and leadership roles, and we’re working to increase this to 40% by 2030.

Through leadership development, mentoring, and inclusive hiring practices, we’re building a stronger leadership team for the future.

Employee-led women's networks

At Vodafone, connection drives inclusion. Our women’s networks bring people together to share experiences, learn from one another, and grow.

Through communities like Women in Tech and Women in Business, we create space for mentoring, development, and meaningful conversations—empowering women and shaping a more inclusive future.

Domestic violence and abuse

We have 250 trained Allies who are equipped to recognise, respond, and refer survivors to specialist support. They receive this accreditation through comprehensive training delivered by our partner, Hope After Harm.

We were also the first global company to introduce an HR policy supporting victims of domestic violence and abuse. Employees who have experienced abuse can access up to 10 days of additional paid “safe leave”, giving them the time and support they need.

HeForShe

HeForShe is a UN Women movement that invites men and women from across the globe to stand together for gender equality. We've been chosen to be one of the 10 Corporate Impact Champions. We’re also expanding access to mobile as a tool for female empowerment and bringing mobile education to refugee girls in the countries where we operate.

Code like a girl

Across our markets, the Code Like a Girl programme has reached more than 5,000 girls in 23 countries. The programme aims to tackle low representation of girls in STEM education and to get more girls into careers that require coding skills, or to help them get a start as STEM entrepreneurs.

Policies for every stage of life

Life evolves and so should the support around you. At Vodafone, we offer policies and resources that help you navigate every stage, so you can thrive both at work and beyond.

Our global parental policy is a cornerstone of our flexible working offer. Available across 30 countries, our parental leave gives women at least 16 weeks of fully paid maternity leave. In addition, any employee whose partner is having a baby, adopts a child or becomes a parent through surrogacy will have the flexibility to take up to 16 weeks paid leave at any time during the first 18 months.

For the first six months after returning from maternity leave, parents will work 4 days a week but be paid for 5.

At Vodafone, we’re breaking the stigma around menopause by building awareness, education and open conversations. As part of our commitment to gender equality, we’re creating an inclusive culture with practical support, training and resources so everyone can thrive at work, at every life stage. Discover our menopause toolkit and see how we support careers through every stage of life.

We’ve embraced hybrid working because we believe it provides the best of both worlds so we commit to 8 days a month in the office.
