What’s next? An Apprenticeship like Anushka?

It was whilst completing 4 A levels and working part time when I was thinking about my career path that I came across apprenticeships. In my time at school, it wasn’t something that was encouraged much, so I did my own research and learned about the endless possibilities that apprenticeships could provide. I was already so used to working and studying at the same time, that I knew that university wasn’t for me. However, I kept my options open and applied to both... and got into both!
I chose Vodafone specifically as I was pleasantly surprised by the focus on diversity and inclusion which is so important to me. It was the first time a woman had ever interviewed me, and I enjoyed every second of it. This woman happens to be one of my managers today and since joining her team, she has guided me so well and I've learnt so much from her already. Seeing other women in STEM at Vodafone has really inspired me to help other young women to start early careers in the Tech field too. For this reason, I joined the Not Going To Uni ambassador team in 2021 where I participate in many interviews and events to create content for young people today. I’m proud to be part of a company where the opportunities for women are encouraged massively. Last year I participated in a Women in STEM Q&A panel representing Vodafone and will be participating in more content for National Apprenticeship Week in February so keep your eyes peeled!
I’m finding my experience with Vodafone to be amazing so far! Due to my position, I have felt so inspired to network and spread the word about my career journey through social media platforms. The youth team are always there to support us apprentices and answer any questions we have which is so helpful. I feel that my purpose aligns well with Vodafone’s and I have learnt so much about my job working with other members in my team, creating visualisations of data and more. Personally, I find that working whilst studying goes well for me due to good time management and the support from my university in liaisons with my managers who are both so understanding.
"I could have never imagined growing this much within my career already and I’m so excited for what’s to come in the future."

My biggest aspiration is to inspire young people all around the world, specifically young women and people from ethnically underrepresented backgrounds, to choose the degree apprenticeship pathway. The combination of a minimum of three years of experience at a corporate company whilst achieving a full bachelor’s degree will be valuable to future generations. You can gain practical experience and skills in the workplace whilst obtaining an education so I look forward to seeing more young people get involved in apprenticeships and would love to help anyone out that’s interested!
If you are finishing your studies and looking for your next step, then an apprenticeship at Vodafone may be the perfect opportunity for you
