Discovering a different Path after Sixth Form

My story with Vodafone began about five years ago when I was in sixth form, trying to figure out my next steps. University didn’t feel like the only path for me, so I started exploring degree apprenticeships. When I found Vodafone’s programme on the careers site, it immediately stood out.

The application process was thorough and exciting. There were video interviews, competency activities, and an assessment centre. A few days later, I got the news that I had been successful, and I officially started my apprenticeship in September 2021.

Support that makes a real difference

During my apprenticeship, I joined the AI and Data Analytics team as a Scrum Master. Day to day, I worked on data and platform engineering projects, helping teams stay on track, managing risks, and making sure we delivered on time. It was fast-paced and gave me hands-on experience that you just can’t get from a classroom.

One of the things that really stood out to me at Vodafone was the support. The Youth and Early Careers teams were always there to guide us and help us think about what we wanted our careers to look like after the apprenticeship. I knew I wanted to stay at Vodafone because of the culture, the benefits, and the progression opportunities.

Finding my passion for people

As my apprenticeship came to an end, I reflected on what I enjoyed most. I realised I loved the people side of my role, supporting others and helping teams thrive. So I applied for an internal HR position through Vodafone’s careers site. After going through the interview process again and showcasing the skills I had built during my apprenticeship, I successfully transitioned into a full-time role.

Now I work as an Onboarding Specialist in HR, helping new starters settle in and make the most of their own Vodafone journeys. It feels very full circle. A few years ago, I was that new joiner, and now I’m the one making sure others have everything they need to succeed.

A message to future Apprentices

My journey shows just how many growth paths Vodafone offers apprentices. You are not limited to one route. You can explore different teams, build new skills, and shape a career that truly fits you.

If you are considering an apprenticeship and want real responsibility, support, and progression, I would definitely recommend taking a look at Vodafone. Applications are open now, and maybe I’ll be welcoming you soon!

With us, you can always take on new challenges
