A Day in the Life of a Finance Graduate at Vodafone

I’m a first-year graduate working in the Finance department of Vodafone. I am currently working as a Financial Accountant in the CBU Revenue and Margin (R&M) team in Financial Operations. 

I spend 80% of my time working from home and 20% in the Newbury Vodafone HQ where our team meets once a week.

My day to day

I usually start my day with a coffee whilst writing out a to do list for the tasks I need to complete. The start of the month is usually the busiest period for my team and I, with the workload being more evenly spread out throughout the rest of the month from there.

During month end close, you can find me posting lots of journal entries to account for any accruals or amendments that need to be input into the Profit and Loss that month. I also spend a lot of time compiling my Month End File for Content, which is the area I am responsible for in the CBU R&M team. Once all the postings are in for the period, I can then present the report it to my manager to highlight any big movements there have been month on month.

I usually like to break my day up by going for a walk with my dog at lunchtime if I am working from home. If I am working in the office, I will have lunch with colleagues in the café and have a stroll around campus – hopefully in the sunshine!
