Tax Technology Senior ManagerWhen people think about careers in tax, they don’t always picture coding, data analytics, or AI. But at Vodafone, that’s exactly where the future of tax is heading and that’s what makes my role so exciting.
From International Tax to Tech Innovation
I originally joined Vodafone as an International Tax Manager. From the start, there was a clear openness to using technology and data to manage risk and make our processes more efficient. That mindset gave me the space to experiment with new tools and approaches, and over time my role naturally evolved into a full-time focus on Tax Technology. It’s been a rewarding journey - one that’s allowed me to combine my tax background with my passion for coding and data.
My focus is on how we can use data, automation, and AI to transform the way tax operates across Vodafone. I work closely with colleagues in Tax Reporting and Data & Analytics to design and implement solutions that improve efficiency, enhance insight, and make our processes more data-driven and user-friendly - from risk management dashboards to advanced analytics. The aim is to make tax data easier to access and more valuable for decision-making.
Building the future
A recent highlight has been developing our new Tax Risk Register app, a complete redesign of how we capture and monitor tax risks across markets. It replaces legacy SharePoint lists with a modern, database-driven platform that enables stronger analytics, an improved UI and sets us up for future AI integration. I’ve also been working on machine learning models that analyse VAT time series data to identify unusual patterns and trends — work that we’re now looking to extend to other areas of tax.
My career so far
What I enjoy most about my role is the blend of tax expertise and technology. Every project is a mix of problem-solving, data, and collaboration - and I get to work with great people from both tax and analytics backgrounds. Vodafone encourages curiosity and experimentation, which makes it a really exciting place to work if you enjoy building and improving things.
