What attracted you to an internship at Vodafone?

Unfortunately, my study abroad got cancelled due to the pandemic so I was more determined than ever to find an alternative experience that could push me to achieve and develop.

Working for a tech company was a personal goal of mine as it is a fast-moving industry with endless opportunities and options for career progression. With the internship being a pipeline into the graduate programme, it's given me something to work towards throughout. This internship acted as a stepping-stone between my university terms which allows me to transfer my skills and learning to the corporate world.

Did you have any prior experience or skills that you feel are useful in your role now?

During the summer of 2019, I embarked on a cultural exchange programme to work at a summer camp in Pennsylvania. During the 12-week programme, I had to prioritize the organisation’s goals and step out of my comfort zone to lead activities I had no prior experience in. Working with such a large and dynamic team was really rewarding and made this challenge so enjoyable. This was recognised by the leadership team, and I was awarded the Counsellor of the year award at the end of the summer. In my role today, my confidence in these skills really helped me thrive in Vodafone.

"It really doesn't matter what degree you are doing or which university, it is more about your embodiment of Vodafone values and your passion for the specific stream."

Have you been involved in any exciting projects and what are you looking forward to next?

I have helped to develop and update a new recruitment portal, which aims to bring together all the vacancies for VBPS (Vodafone Business Platforms & Solutions) with the longer-term ambition to launch this for all of group technology.

I have been so fortunate to already have been involved in such a wide range of tasks. I recently lead an interview for an internal role, and it was a great learning experience to be on the other side of the interview!
