Emily Harris Business Manager / Digital & IT Transformation Lead

I've been at Vodafone for almost 5 years now (time flies, seriously!). It all started in 2018 when I joined as a graduate in HR. The graduate scheme was an amazing experience where I got to learn about different areas of the company. I began in the Internal comms team, where I discovered the importance of clear communication to keep everyone aligned towards common goals.

After that, I moved to Reward, Recognition, and Benefits, where I dealt with things like annual salary reviews and employee recognition programs. A valuable lesson this team taught me was to be proactive and seek out opportunities to contribute. My last rotation was in Resourcing and Recruitment. Here, I owned a transformation project, improving a resourcing process.

Little did my manager know that giving me that chance would lead me into project management. I offboarded as a customer-facing project manager. I delivered bespoke technology solutions to our business customers. This role set me on a massive learning curve, but it taught me that growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone.

And now, I'm currently the Business Manager to the Head of Digital & IT Delivery, and I'm loving every moment of it. This role requires me to call upon all the skills I had gained in previous roles whilst also exposing me to new learnings and opportunities, with visibility at a more senior level of the organization, giving me a more well-rounded perspective of how Vodafone operates.

If I could give some advice to anyone starting their career at Vodafone, it would be this: This is your career, Vodafone offers an abundance of opportunities to grow and develop but it’s up to you to shape how you want to do that. Have courage and step outside your comfort zone (you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll be ready for the next step). Remember, each day is a chance to make a decision that propels you forward. Seize the opportunities that come your way and embrace the growth that comes with it.
