Disability Pride Month: Meet April Andjelic

For April, Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience and diversity of the disabled community and a reminder that inclusion should be part of everyday culture, not just an annual campaign.

April started working at Vodafone 15 years ago and in that time, she’s grown through roles, taken on new challenges, and had the privilege of working with some truly inspiring people. Today, she is a Digital Operations and CSAT Specialist based in Newbury, where she uses data and insights to help improve the customer experience.

For Disability Pride Month, we spoke with April and here is her reflection on her career and lived experience in the workplace:

Who you are, your role & location
I'm April, currently working as a Digital Operations and CSAT Specialist based in Newbury. I’m part of a brilliant team that focuses on improving customer experience and driving insights through data. Every day brings a new challenge, which makes the role both dynamic and rewarding.

How long you have been at Vodafone?
I’ve been with Vodafone for 15 years now. During that time, I’ve had the chance to grow both personally and professionally, working alongside some truly inspiring colleagues and contributing to meaningful projects.

What interested you in joining Vodafone?
What initially attracted me to Vodafone 15 years ago, was its strong reputation as a purpose-led company, with real commitments to digital inclusion, innovation, and sustainability. I was also looking for a workplace that valued individuality and supported development, and Vodafone stood out for all the right reasons.

What has kept you here for so long?
It’s the culture and the people that have really made the difference. There’s a genuine sense of collaboration, trust, and flexibility here. I’ve always felt encouraged to bring my whole self to work, to share ideas, and to continuously learn. Vodafone also offers opportunities to move around and try new things, which has kept my career exciting and fulfilling.

Why do you think Vodafone is such a special place to work?
Vodafone is more than just a teleco, it’s a place where purpose meets progress. From supporting global connectivity to championing diversity and inclusion, it’s clear that the company cares about making a difference. There’s a real sense of pride in the work we do and the values we stand by.

What advice would you give somebody wanting to start a career in this industry?
Stay curious and be open to change, this industry moves fast, and that’s part of what makes it exciting. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek out mentors, and challenge the status quo. Whether you’re passionate about tech, customer experience, or strategy, there’s a space for you to thrive if you’re willing to learn and adapt.

What are you looking forward to in the future?
I’m looking forward to seeing how technology continues to evolve and how we can harness it to create positive change — whether that’s improving accessibility, enabling smarter connectivity, or driving more sustainable practices. It’s an exciting time to be part of an industry that’s shaping the future in real and tangible ways.

What does Disability Pride Month mean to you?
Disability Pride Month is a powerful reminder to celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of the disabled community. For me, it’s about recognising the value that disabled people bring to our workplaces and society with their unique perspectives and lived experiences.

It’s also a time to reflect on how far we’ve come in terms of inclusion, while acknowledging that there’s still much more to do. From breaking down barriers to challenging stereotypes and designing more accessible environments, Disability Pride Month encourages us all to take action, not just for awareness, but for lasting change.

Personally, it’s about listening, learning, and amplifying voices that haven’t always been heard. It’s a call to build workplaces where everyone can thrive, and to make inclusion something we live every day, not just once a year
