Through networking opportunities, mentoring and events, the Armed Forces network empowers members to get involved, support one another and help shape initiatives that make our workplace welcoming for all.

From RAF to Secure Operations: Keith's Journey
"My path here began in the Royal Air Force, where I enlisted at 16. Over the years, I moved into computer systems administration on a deployable command‑and‑control network, gained deep technical experience, and was honoured with an MBE in 2004. Those early roles taught me disciplined thinking, clear communication and how to stay composed in high‑pressure situations."
Leaving the RAF was daunting. Translating my experience into civilian job language didn’t come naturally, and interviews were a learning curve. Reconnecting with a former commander opened the door to VodafoneThree, and after meeting the team, I knew the environment and the work aligned with my strengths.
At VodafoneThree, that background now underpins the work I do every day — supporting secure operations, strengthening operational readiness and sharing knowledge across teams. The welcome from colleagues and the familiar sense of purpose made the transition far less intimidating than I’d expected. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and committed to helping other Service Leavers recognise the value of their own experience as they move into new careers."

From Signals to Secure Operations: Jack's Journey
"I’m Jack, a Network Run Lead in Vodafone Business Security Enhanced, and my path here started long before I joined the telecoms industry. I spent ten years in the Royal Corps of Signals, serving in Germany and Hereford and taking part in multiple deployments to Afghanistan.
When I began exploring roles in IT and telecoms, translating my military experience into a new context was a learning curve. Building my technical knowledge on the NOC shift desk helped me grow quickly, developing confidence in a new environment and a deeper understanding of secure operations.
At VodafoneThree, I put that experience to work by leading on operational readiness, onboarding and supporting our engineers across VBSE. The focus is always the same: maintaining the highest standards of security and performance, and using the skills I gained in the Forces with clarity, accountability and a commitment to doing things well."

From Royal Signals to 5G Delivery: Andy’s Journey
"I’m Andy, a Deployment Manager at VodafoneThree, and my path here started long before I joined the telecoms industry. I spent 14 years in the Royal Signals, working across diverse teams, environments and technologies. Those years taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and adapt quickly - skills that have guided every step of my career since.
When I moved into network operations and later network deployment, that foundation helped me grow through the rollout of 3G, 4G and now 5G. What stayed constant was the satisfaction of solving complex problems and keeping people connected.
At VodafoneThree, I put that experience to work by managing upgrade projects across the UK and building strong, trusted relationships with our suppliers. The focus is always the same: delivering a reliable, high‑quality network for our customers, and doing it in a way that reflects how we work - with clarity, accountability and a drive to get things done well."
