Role Purpose:

This role forms a critical part of Vodafone’s new in-house media team, that will take full strategic and operational accountability of all biddable digital media disciplines (Search, Social, and Programmatic). This change reflects the next phase of digital transformation at Vodafone, and an emphasis on delivering against its Operating Principles of Transparency, Ownership, and Independence.

Success in this role will depend heavily on both credible technical expertise and experience, but also ability to work well in an extremely fast-paced and demanding environment, and in collaborating / influencing across teams.

Key responsibilities, accountabilities and decision ownership: 

• Part of team taking full end-to-end responsibility of programmatic advertising (display, video etc), and setting discipline leadership across Brand and Performance media agendas
• Integrates internally: Brand / Performance / CBU / EBU / Segments
• Integrates with agency: across traditional & digital media planning / buying
• Work with direction from Team Lead to implement high level strategy
• Will work closely with Audience Manager Media Analyst / Integrated Media Planner roles
• Campaign planning, management and execution to deliver against media and business outcome KPI’s, managing account, campaign tactics setting, reporting and optimisation
• Set and align campaign goals for Ad Server and DSP campaigns
• Design campaign strategies and hierarchy for Ad Server and DSP
• Harness 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data sets, to deliver effective segmentation and outcomes
• Provide campaign briefing to the Audience Manager (DMP) to build audiences based on campaign strategies (e.g. reach, consideration, retargeting, prospecting, x/up-selling)
• Help set and implement trading strategies via publisher direct and PMP arrangements
• Work with team lead to drive technology partner relationships (DSP, Ad Server, Verification), optimising configuration to local needs (in line with Group strategies), and setting local roadmap development. Address local integration issues with other tech stack elements, e.g. DMP, Analytics etc 
• Responsible for executing testing plan and providing high quality analysis
• Establish comprehensive campaign reporting and optimize campaign against the KPI goals as well as audiences in the DSP
• With the Audience Manager, review tagging and campaign strategies for further campaign and audience optimizations
• Improve operational effectiveness, measured against ongoing process / capability auditing


Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Relevant management experience in media industry – client, agency or consultancy side
• Solid understanding of programmatic advertising based on hands-on experience of managing display and video campaigns, across multiple channels and devices
• Be able to demonstrate delivery of results across large scale brand and performance campaigns
• Demonstrating trading experience across open exchange, PMP and buying across all media types (Audio, Video, Display, Native etc).
• Solid understanding of display and programmatic technology (e.g., DSPs, DMPs). Knowledge of Adform (Ad Server, DSP), DBM, DoubleVerify advantageous 
• Good working knowledge of analytics, tracking, tag management / implementation, managing set up of DCO campaigns, and working with DMP’s, with experience of creating audience segments, pushing these to execution, campaign optimisation, and evaluation.
• Brand and performance planning experience essential, demonstrating knowledge in harnessing data and technology to deliver accountable media outcomes
• Good data management and analytical skills
• Excellent numeracy, data handling, time management, prioritisation, and delegation skills
• Proven track-record of driving projects and creating impact through pragmatic problem-solving
• Be resilient and resourceful
• Have polished presentation and communication skills


Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

• Educated to degree level
• Platform certifications i.e. Specified analytics and Ad Technology (Ad Server and DSP – Adform, DBM preferred; DMP and Analytics – Adobe preferred)
