Description

Role title: Run Domain Platform Architect 
Location: Newbury

 

Role purpose: 

 To support key strategic growth areas, Enterprise IT require a highly capable and experienced ‘RUN ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT’ to work in the RUN domain which is the domain that covers the billing and service management capabilities provided to the customer. This domain covers customer problem management, service problem mgmt/performance mgmt/quality mgmt, fault mgmt, resource performance mgmt. and billing. The key responsibility of this role will be optimising the architecture and roadmap for these functions in order to deliver the business and technology vision.   Accountabilities will include defining and aligning IT Enterprise and Capability Architectures for Vodafone Business Units in Group and Local Markets with strategies, frameworks and guidance from Global Architecture and IT Enterprise Architecture functions in Local Markets.  The role will play an integral part in relevant RFIs/RFPs and sourcing strategies and include a level of architecture consultancy and governance for the wider Group IT Architecture team. The role will also include direct involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise. 
 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

Essential 

  • Demonstrable and recent track record of delivering an architecture service on projects that span multi-disciplinary areas across OSS, BSS and Enterprise domains in a large telecommunications IT environments 
  • Sound overall knowledge of application capabilities, integration, data design methodologies and industry best practices 
  • Ability to understand a wide range of disciplines in enough detail to communicate effectively with experts in those areas to enable delivery of E2E solutions designs, including, as examples, network designs, customer relationship management, order management / service provisioning, service assurance processes, billing and general enterprise management functions. 
  • Capability to articulate and define complex architectures in a simple way to stakeholders underpinned by a structured analytical approach and high quality architectural artefacts and deliverables. 
  • Ability to translate Business Strategy and needs into IT Architecture blueprints for markets; estimate the financial impact of architectural alternatives. Ability to balance short term vs. strategic solutions to cater to conflicting demands.

 

Desired 

  • Working knowledge and/or experience of delivering solutions architectures and designs for Enterprise Business Units in telco environments 
  • Working knowledge of TOGAF (Enterprise Architecture framework), TM Forum Frameworx (industry specific Process, Application, and Information frameworks), and UML (modelling standard) 
  • Experience with E2E modelling tools such as Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect or IBM Rationale System/Software Architect) 
  • Experience with managing third parties required to participate in the definition of architectures, ensuring continuity of design with all internal aspects 

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications:  

Educated to degree level and/or relevant technical experience (preferably 15+ years) with a proven track record of defining, describring and maintaining architecture blueprints, roadmaps and design deliverables in the telecommunications industry
