Permanent: Full time (Mon to Fri - 37.5 hours per week)

What will you be doing?

 

  • Responsible for ensuring optimal dimensioning of the Access TX network capacity requirements, within given budget limitations.
  • Driving TX Network performance improvements to meet service SLAs.
  • Working with the Strategy team on best solutions to deliver what their plans.
  • Working with TX Delivery teams to identify and drive capacity upgrades. 
  • Working with third party suppliers to ensure our performance monitoring platforms are maintained and running efficiently.
  • Ensure Capacity Planning processes are efficient as possible and utilise best practices from across the Vodafone UK as defined by the Strategy teams.
  • Leading improvement initiatives and special focus projects for problem areas within capacity planning and network transformation.
  • Provide support to Optimisation and Design teams in order to test impact on TX network changes and troubleshoot underperforming customer services.
  • Proactively support trials and performance monitoring tools to provide world class network performance to Vodafone customers.
  • A strong understanding of IP/MPLS transmission networks (minimum of CCNA level knowledge or equivalent).
  • An understanding of microwave principles: topologies, modulations and basic configuration. 
  • An understanding of RAN/Core Radio technologies.
  • Experienced in network performance platforms with knowledge of active testing protocols such as TWAMP and Service Assurance Testing (Y.1564 and RFC6349) as well as passive testing including packet capture analysis.
  • A strong understanding of VMware based platforms management, linux environments and programming languages (python, SQL) in order to support and maintain our Accedian and VIAVI performance monitoring platforms.
  • Communicating relevant messages across Technology, Business units and globally.
  • Communicating updates to the different departments on key strategy and performance metrics.

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Be educated to an Engineering/Science degree level or equivalent.
  • Access transmission planning / performance experience at a management level.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to present complex technical information in plain language to Senior Management.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Supplier management.
  • Coaching and developing others.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to deliver to challenging targets and deadlines. 
  • Extensive Experience of IP/MPLS networks (minimum of CCNA level knowledge or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience of network optimisation techniques and processes.
  • Experience of using network statistics, networks traces and drive trialling logs to analyse and improve network performance.
  • Knowledge Linux (RHE) and VMWare environments.
  • People Management.
  • Experience of creating business cases.
  • Process Definition and Improvement.
  • Knowledge/experience of project management.
  • Strong programming knowledge including SQL & Python.
