The Role 

The Enterprise Unified Comms and Connectivity (UCC) markets are undergoing a major transformation. Enterprise Connectivity is evolving with new generations of software defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), NFV and Cloud Connectivity products being rolled out, significant growth in Enterprise Internet access and ongoing demand for MPLS VPNs for business critical services. Unified Comms products are also undergoing a shift from ‘on premise’ to cloud based solutions with new collaboration and real time API enabled communications services becoming available.
As the Technical Product Manager, you will manage a family of group UC&C products sold by Vodafone Business companies across EU and global markets. Typically, these products will be grouped into one or more product development value-streams.  You will be accountable for translating the Vodafone Business Product vision, strategy and goals into 18-month technology product roadmaps and plans, breaking down value-streams into EPICs, defining capabilities and features with Vodafone markets to be developed and delivered by the UCC product practice. You will be accountable for the technical product lifecycle management and performance. Your initial focus, will be set dependent on experience, and will include a subset of Enterprise Connectivity products sold by Vodafone markets to MNC, Large Corporates, SME and Indirect Channels.
This role will lead a small team of technical product managers, who will develop/retire products within your value-stream(s). This role is ideal for a product technology leader looking to develop their career on a global stage.

With us you will:

  • Manage the practice interface to LOB/Markets/Pre-Sales 
  • Lead on practice budget cycles for your value stream(s) ensuring agreement with tech/delivery/LOB senior managers
  • Work on practice budget cycles ensuring agreement with tech/delivery/LOB heads for your product valuestream(s) 
  • Build the 18-month technical product roadmap, plans and budgets, aligned to the business 3-5yr product vision and strategy. Ensuring alignment with UCC Practice technology and delivery.
  • Build lean business cases for product development
  • Breakdown valuestreams into EPICs, MVPs and these into buildable capabilities/features and acceptance criteria to be developed working with Vodafone business, operations and technology stakeholders
  • Sequence EPICs, capabilities and budget into development. Work with product owners who will prioritise work within development squads and develop user stories and detailed features for these.
  • Collaborates with architects, delivery factory and technology partners to understand and jointly sequence technology enablers on the architectural runway
  • Technical Product lifecycle plans and performance management (Capabilities, Features, SLAs, Costs) and feeding inputs into backlog
  • Implementation of CX improvement as per outcomes prioritised by Vodafone Business
  • Manage product priorities, risks, opportunities in agreement with LOB/Practice Technology and Delivery leads
  • Keeps appraised on vendor roadmaps and the market from a technology capability
  • Product forecasting for vendors, networks and operational teams aligned with LOB, Markets and practice services and technology teams
  • Analyse the market, vendors and competition from a product technology and capability perspective

Apply if you have: 

  • Experience in Enterprise product management or related role working with UCC products: Internet, Ethernet, Cloud Connect, MPLS IP-VPN, Hybrid WAN, Fixed Wireless Access, Software Defined WANs, NFV, Network on Demand, Managed Network Security, APM. UCaaS, CCaaS, CPaaS, Cloud PABX, SIP Trunking
  • Demonstrable achievements leading and managing products across the lifecycle. Ideally experience with group products and managing product platforms on which different product propositions offered.
  • In depth understanding of the Product, market and technology trends an a foundational understanding of the technology for the relevant domain to with ability to relate technology solutions to CX and business outcomes
  • Product Development Experience extending to product roadmap management, waterfall, scrum and agile development, requirements management, building lean business cases, setting out minimum viable products, managing technical product content
  • Experience with product business models to set out the product portfolio and lifecycle plan. Product lifecycle experience including rationalisation, performance management, risks and opportunity management, and catalogue management
  • Strong understanding of commercial, financial and business principles
  • Customer centric focus ideally with experience building requirements and developing products through co-creation
  • Effective communication, self-management and influencing skills at all levels to C level
  • A strong collaborator and team player with experience in leading and motivating teams, with proven ability to work in a matrix environment
  • You will already have people management experience will be able to demonstrate success leading and delivering to a high performance through people in Telecoms / Technology industry
