Senior Counsel - Consumer

Location: Speechmark, London  - hybrid working pattern (Full-time remote working during COVID-19)

What will you be doing? 

To provide a variety of senior level legal support to Vodafone’s Consumer Business Unit i.e. Pay Monthly, Pay as You Go, Voxi, Internet of Things and Home Broadband on all FCA regulated products and propositions.

o    To work with the Consumer Legal Team to deliver excellent legal advice and support to the Consumer Business Unit in a way that embodies Vodafone’s values of speed, simplicity and trust;
o    To act as the key point of contact within the Consumer Legal Team for Vodafone’s regulated mobile products, keeping Consumer Terms and Conditions, consumer credit documentation and internal briefing notes up-to-date and provide ongoing training to ensure that key stakeholders engage as efficiently as possible and in a way that manages key legal and regulatory risks; 
o    To support the Consumer Business Unit to launch new products and propositions in a legally and regulatory compliant way.
o    To be responsible for ensuring that the Consumer Business Unit understands what is required to comply with relevant law and regulation and deliver succinct and precise advice and risk-based reports to senior stakeholders to facilitate decision making;
o    To develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved quickly, and escalating to Lead Counsel where appropriate;
o    To advise other members of the Legal team on issues relating to regulated consumer credit and payment services;
o    To collaborate effectively with other parts of Consumer Legal Team, the UK Legal Team, the Regulatory Team, the Compliance Team and the Group Legal Team;
o    To keep up-to-date with recent legal and regulatory developments and emerging legal issues that could affect Vodafone’s UK operations, and advising the business accordingly.

Who are we looking for?  


o    Experience as a consumer credit/regulatory lawyer in private practice or in house ideally in the technology, media or telecommunications industry with experience  of consumer credit/payment services law and regulation and consumer protection in relation to regulated products;
o    Excellent communicator with a professional approach and an ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, logical and convincing manner (both in writing and in person);
o    Ability to take a proactive and solutions-focussed approach and a clear understanding of the commercial and legal risks.
