The Role 

This role is within Vodafone Business Product & Solutions, Unified Comms and Connectivity Practice. The successful candidate will work alongside the SD-WAN product architect lead and, working closely with Group Product Management and Product Owners, will take new products to market. He or she will provide technical consultancy to identify and qualify new concepts before translating requirements into design and delivery. The role is highly interactive and requires the ability to work with several internal departments and external partners as well as Group and Local Markets teams. 


The candidates’ responsibilities include:

  • Ensure maintenance and delivery of high-quality deliverables related to the SDN & Security portfolio 
  • Engage with Commercial and Product Management functions to collect and discuss requirements and solutions 
  • Being accountable for the Product high level design of the product, ensuring that the Product Requirements (as defined within the Market Specification) are met by owning the overall design.
  • Ensuring that the end to end design complies with Vodafone design principles (e.g. Security & Privacy by Design) and strikes an agreed balance between compliance to requirement and delivery time/cost and quality.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into solutions that span the end-to-end implementation; this includes determination of costs for development the end to end solution. 
  • Determine product/service technical building blocks and how they interact, i.e. the scope of what’s to be delivered. Deliver the relevant documentation.
  • Being responsible for the technical aspects of the vendor management, setting the technical priorities and driving the product improvement
  • Being accountable for the end to end In-Life Operating Model, Owning the product lifecycle, and ensuring ‘end of life’ events are managed appropriately.
  • Work closely with the Service Designers’ team, to ensure a clear and successful interlock between high level design and service design
  • Working closely with the functional towers to support interpretation of requirements and ensuring the quality of their development and design & test documentation, and ownership of the resolution of cross tower design issues. 
  • Excellent communication skills are essential in this role, as well as experience in talking to different areas of business, Product Management, Category Management and Vendors
  • Engaging key product stakeholders to understand product performance in life and identifying opportunities for improvement. 
  • Keep up to date on latest technologies, trends and relevant vendors on modern software defined network modelling and development 
  • Ability to deal with strict timelines, and with proven ability to deal with technically and operationally complex solutions, offering advice and solutions to solve complex problems
  • Present solution to technical and not technical audience and run know-how transfer sessions 
  • Ability to continuously learn and grow in both technical and soft skills areas, nurturing a growth and solution driven mindset  
  • Endeavour to be a pro-active team player, capable to be part of a high-performance team, capable to deal with multiple workloads and prioritising the most relevant activities

  • Deliver the technical Product Collateral such as the Technical Service Description, technical options paper, Product technical HLD and provide Solutions Consultant guidance that underpins the product.
  • Review technical documents from suppliers that underpin the solution and support delivery teams to align activities to product solution 
  • Deliver products on time and to budget, meeting the key business and customer outcomes
  • Ensure Vodafone Customers benefit from the latest technological advances to get the best possible customer experience and identifying opportunities for innovation of the product portfolio
  • Create software and documentation for product/solution for the assigned areas 
  • Review of functional requirements in line with desired customer functions/solutions
  • Support overall product strategy for Connectivity services as part of system architecture & integration 
  • Review and refine end to end service models  
  • Ability to master complex problems and summarise them in simple terms, based on target audience

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in dealing with internal stakeholders and external partners as well as with virtual teams geographically dispersed
  • Ability to manage multiple & changing priorities and follow-up until delivered
  • Ability to deal with product lifecycle activities
  • Must have core expertise in a good number of topics on network infrastructures enabling Systems and Tools applicable to the SDN and NFV market
  • Expertise in Cisco Viptela SD-LAN and SD-WAN
  • Technical knowledge in IP data networking and in non CLI driven device configuration
  • Knowledge and understanding of the enterprise technology market 
  • Experience of design, implementation and roll out of telecoms services, preferably gained in an international environment/global context. 
  • 3rd party Cloud hosting certifications or key experience.
