Role purpose:
Provide specialist Machine Learning and advanced analytics expertise and skills to enable the design, build, deployment and sustainable running of data science models within the Nucleus data products portfolio. 
Build advanced models that will be embedded into the data products to drive realisable value, innovation and efficiency into Local markets to support the drive for a more Digital Vodafone.
Work with cross functional (and geographically dispersed) teams to deploy and maintain the models to guarantee sustained value to the organisation. Utilise cloud technologies (Google Compute Platform).
The day to day accountabilities and workload will be directed by the Senior Manager, ML Analytics (based in UK), with functional ownership retained by the Product Delivery Assurance Manager (Spain).

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership      
•    Design, creation and delivery of  Machine Learning (ML) and Advanced Analytics models within the Nucleus data product portfolio
•    Deployment through cloud technologies and the exploitation of automated technology to ensure ongoing delivery speed is maximising and cost effective
•    Ongoing maintenance and tuning of ML and AA models to ensure continued relevance, accuracy and value realisation.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience 
•    Ability to work in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team
•    Core data science skills with strong numeracy in evidence.
•    Take ownership of own workload and maintain awareness of activities across the whole team to ensure the successful delivery of the function’s overall goals
•    Develop a strong appreciation of the wider Data & Analytics delivery streams across the Nucleus programme to ensure work is appropriately focused & positioned

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 
1)    Relevant professional experience in predictive modelling for at least one of the following: classification, regression, and time-series forecasting
2)    Proficiency in Python (preferred) or R, and relevant data science libraries 
3)    Familiarity with one of the query languages such as SQL
4)    Deployment experience in a Google Cloud environment preferred
5)    Google Cloud certification an advantage
6)    Experience in tools such as Spark (for distributed processing) and Qlik (for Data Visualisation) advantageous
7)    Domain knowledge in Telecoms useful, but not essential
