Senior AML Compliance Manager
Location: London Paddington


This varied role will lead a talented team and support the Vodafone Group M-Pesa Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance in the delivery of an effective risk-based anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) programme. 


The role covers a broad range of licenced and regulated fintech and mobile financial services in Europe and Africa, including life insurance, consumer credit, payments, and mobile money (e.g. M-Pesa, a mobile money service with over 37million active customers, processing over €10billion of payments monthly).


This is a leadership role and a key part of the second line of defence in the Vodafone Group Compliance programme.


You will:
• AML & CTF policy development: Development of a Global AML & CTF Policy based on international standards, and supporting the implementation of all prevention, detection and reporting controls required to ensure that the business has a robust and effective compliance programme.
• Driving compliance globally: Leading a team to manage compliance with international policy standards, regional and national legal requirements. This includes managing relationships with MLROs, regulatory, and compliance professionals across Vodafone’s footprint, conducting risk assessments, performing on-site reviews, monitoring national and international legal developments, designing robust compliance frameworks, creating and delivering training, and reporting to senior management.
• Supporting Commercial priorities: Providing in-house advice and support on a range of matters, in a fast-paced commercially-driven environment. Ensure that key stakeholders are adequately trained on policy requirements, law and regulations, and their responsibilities for controls.
• Monitoring and reporting: Develop and undertake regular 2nd line monitoring and assessments (including in market) of current compliance status and establish monitoring and review mechanisms to ensure compliance with policies and procedures


It would be nice if you have…
• Experience of working in a financial services environment is desirable.
• A commercial and pragmatic attitude, with strong communication skills and the ability to express complex concepts in a clear and practical manner.
• Ability to deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment, leading and influencing across a diverse range of geographies, teams, and products.

You must have…
• A strong understanding of regulation, risk management, governance and control systems required as well as relevant 2nd line compliance activity experience on AML or similar
• ACAMS certified, ICA diploma AML qualification, or similar relevant AML qualification preferred
• Qualified as a minimum to degree level in a relevant area.
