Legal Counsel - Products, Services & Consumer Strategy

To provide legal support in relation to all legal matters arising in respect of Group-wide consumer products and services and strategic initiatives, developed centrally and implemented in local markets across our global footprint. Areas include Fixed & Mobile Products, OneNumber, CIoT Smart Tech and Security. You will also be able to provide cross-team support on “transformation” activities within the Legal Function, intended to facilitate smarter working, enable self-service of the client base and enhance efficiency across the legal teams.

You will

  • Draft contracts for complex and sophisticated transactions (including strategic global partnershi) and support commercial colleagues in their negotiation with third parties to achieve contractual arrangements which accurately reflect the business requirements
  • Provide advisory legal support in respect of the development and in-life management of consumer-facing products and services (including but not limited to, eCommerce, consumer law, product regulation and product safety). This will involve shaping products to mitigate risk, preparing terms and conditions, and advising on marketing claims
  • Provide the business with timely first-class pragmatic legal support by understanding key commercial drivers and providing clear, practical and robust advice which facilitates business needs whilst mitigating key risks and challenges
  • Provide the business with tools to allow it to undertake self-service activity without undue reliance on Group Legal (e.g. training, precedents, guidance notes and toolkits)Work with other key stakeholders including, Group products and commercial teams; legal teams in local markets and other teams within Group Legal (particularly the Privacy and Procurement teams); Group and Local technology; and Group Finance.

 

You must have

  • Legal qualifications with experience gained either in-house or at a leading law firm.
  • Experience in a commercial legal role dealing with complex matters, ideally with experience of consumer law and/or product law (particularly in respect of digital consumer products). 
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience of leading the legal support on complex commercial agreements, projects or subsets of larger projects.
  • Ability to prioritise and work at speed, providing accurate, pragmatic and actionable advice to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to present authoritatively to internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate protection of Vodafone’s interests, whilst concentrating on the issues that really matter.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with impact logical analysis, and commercial legal advice to senior audiences using a variety of communication styles.
