Digital Cloud Technical Architect

Location: London or Newbury (Blended – home & office)

You will be joining the Digital Architecture team to own and shape the evolving technology and architecture patterns strategy for Digital UK’s Cloud Infrastructure environment.

 

You will work closely with the other Domain (e.g. web, native app, chatbot and Digital API application platform) Technical Architects, Solution Architects, System Engineers and Operations teams to ensure the environments are fit for purpose and can evolve to meet current and foreseeable business needs.

 

What will you be doing?
• Working across Vodafone Technology Digital teams (both within the UK & globally) to produce and align on best practice that inform VF UK’s Cloud Infrastructure technology and standards strategy.
• Establish Vodafone UK’s Digital cloud-infrastructure architecture strategy setting the direction for the next couple of years. This strategy should both support the web, native app, chatbot and DXL (our Digital API application platform) application architecture strategies defined by your counterparts from those domains.
• Lead and mentor a small team of Cloud and Security Technical Architects
• Support design and deployment of infrastructure solutions ensuring they meet standardisation, consolidation, TCO, security, regulatory compliance and application system quality.
• Challenge upstream requirements and design activity to ensure a fair compromise of functional and non-functional requirements are being considered in releases
• Provide ROM estimates of cost and timescales for projects under early consideration, supporting the Domain lead in assuring and challenging technical scope.

 

Who are we looking for?


• Extensive knowledge and experience designing and delivering cloud-based (ideally AWS) environments hosting B2C web applications and supporting micro-service-based API application services accessible to internet users.
• AWS solutions architect certification (associate level or above).
• Experience defining IaC (Infrastructure As Code) strategy using IAC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proven experience acting as a technology leader defining technology strategy and coaching and mentoring technical staff.
• A working knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies such as LEAN, Scrum & Kanban.
• Ability to define a business case and phased delivery plan to move from an as is architecture, to a significantly different to be architecture.
