Role Purpose

The External Affairs Advisor conducts monitoring and policy/economic analysis in support of policy development or new policy creation, ensuring Local market is aware of draft or current EU/government legislation and/or regulation that impacts Vodafone and oversees (monitor and effectively influence) in particular all legislative and non-legislative procedures related e.g. to the Next Generation EU recovery package. External Affairs Advisor should demonstrate strategic influence over a senior stakeholder network both outside (in particular local government, local regulator and EU) and within Vodafone, having impact beyond their immediate team and also should provide expert knowledge in the field of Next Generation EU related instruments and procedures and demonstrates a strong commercial awareness, influencing the strategy and commercial imperatives of the business whilst minimising risk.

Job Responsibility
  • Monitors and gathers all relevant information from an early stage on all relevant legislative and non-legislative procedures;
  • Influences all relevant legislative and non-legislative procedures related in particular to the MFF/Next Generation EU package;
  • Uses sound understanding of policy to effectively advise and assist the business supporting Vodafone’s thinking, strategy and action plan in this policy area
  • Uses evaluative judgment based on factual or qualitative information to deliver on policy areas; 
  • Provides counsel and advice on relevant experiences, best/worst practice and benchmarks
  • Provides high-quality analysis in support of Vodafone’s policy strategy
Competencies
  • Masters in law or economic sciencies, preferencial specialization in European and political studies
  • Relevant experience in a similiar role in Legal or Regulatory area
  • Studies or lectures in regulation and competition (preferential)
  • Strong commercial knowledge and policy awareness with experience in policy strategies implementation
  • Strong communication skills to influence, negotiate and work closely with other relevant policy/regulatory team
  • Fluent in English
