We have a great opportunity for someone to join our Legal team as a Legal Counsel. Ready?

Is this role for me?

This Legal Counsel role will give you the opportunity to provide legal support to various Vodafone UK business areas, these include Indirect Channel Partners, Pay Monthly dealers and distributors, Pay as you Go/SIM Card distributors, multiple retail partners, Partner Agents and other consumer facing business areas as required.


What will I be doing?

• This is busy role where you will get in involved in a wide range of activities, which is not limited to:
• Providing commercial legal advice (both on a proactive and reactive basis) to the teams within the Responsible Areas in a way that embodies Vodafone’s values of speed, simplicity and trust;
• Drafting and leading the negotiation of commercial agreements for the distribution of Vodafone’s consumer goods and services, advising on strategy and approach;
• providing guidance to the business on legal issues arising and finding pragmatic and workable solutions;
• developing and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved quickly, and escalating to Senior Counsel where appropriate;
• In the case of disputes, working closely with the dispute resolution team to determine position and strategy, advise the relevant internal customers and achieve resolution. 
• keeping up to date with changes in legislation which could impact the operation of the Responsible Areas and working to enable Vodafone to implement any required changes in good time;
• Keeping contract templates and internal briefing notes up-to-date and providing ongoing training to ensure that key stakeholders contract as efficiently as possible and in a way that manages key legal risks; and
• Collaborating effectively with other parts of Consumer Legal Team, the UK Legal Team, the Regulatory Team and the Group Legal Team.


We would like someone who has:

• University honours degree (second class or better).
• Qualified solicitor or barrister with high quality post qualification experience
• Solid grounding in commercial law and a good level of general legal knowledge (Consumer law knowledge is desirable but not essential)
• Proficient drafting skills and able to draft standard commercial contracts, with ability to draft more complex contracts under supervision.
• Good negotiation and influencing skills and able to lead legal negotiations on standard commercial contracts and drive projects to successful completion.
• Experience in the TMT sector dealing with legal issues such as agency and distribution (preferable)
• Excellent communicator with a professional approach and an ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, logical and convincing manner (both in writing and in person) to senior and junior stakeholders.
