Digital Insight - Product Owner


Role purpose:

The digital channels are at the heart of our digital strategy to improve our customers experience with Vodafone and provide a cornerstone for our Omnichannel experience. With 21 Vodafone Operators live on Web and App we are already working at scale, and have aggressive targets for further growth and development in the next few years. As we evolve into a truly digital company, the experience we provide to our customers through our channels becomes ever more important. Under the leadership of the Team Lead Digital Channel Performance, the team works with the markets to monitor and drive improvements to their Web and My Vodafone App experience, using a suite of digital marketing tools to provide an enabling framework from which markets can monitor their customer experience and identify areas for improvements. Working with both technical and commercial teams, the role has accountability for;

Delivery of commercial targets and requirements for digital marketing and analytics – providing data and insight and delivering improvements with the markets

  • Establish and maintain roadmap across markets – establishing and tracking a backlog of tasks to improve understanding of the underlying channel experience through machine learning and deeper data interrogation
  • Working with the channel performance team, market teams and digital marketing owners to establish improved data model to drive improved understanding and interrogation of data
  • Establishing and maintaining a cross market community for data insight, establishing best practice knowledge and ensuring this is disseminated across all market teams
  • Establish and maintain the data engineering environment to deliver the insight backlog – working with the data owners to improve access to the environment and support the opening of the environment to market and group teams for collaboration and sharing of data insight engineering practices
  • Drive data insight from the digital data we own, ensuring a balanced backlog of tasks and delivery thereon to gain value from the data with the markets
  • Foster collaboration with the market teams, sharing cross market learnings and code to benefit all 
  • Build a central knowledge base of expertise and provide a focal point to guide the technical delivery against the strategic architecture.


With us you will:

  • Digital Channel Insight Roadmap – establish approach, process and environment, for the efficient capture and re-use of digital insight to improve customer experience.
  • Product Management : ownership of the data insight environment and responsibility to drive their roadmap in line with digital channels team needs. Aligning the commercial need and techncial delivery teams to drive a roadmap of data insight to best serve our and the markets needs.
  • Solution Design - provide optimal technology architecture and design choices to support data engineering upon the data owned. Work with the product owners to drive improvements to the environment and product to enable roadmap delivery. Alignment with the wider data engineering teams to ensure performance data aligns to architectural standards and fits to the wider data engineering strategy & architecture
  • Technical Delivery- The role holder will be responsible for establishing appropriate delivery approaches for the digital insight, working with suppliers, internal or off-shore teams to maximise efficiency in the delivery of the data engineering models.

Apply if you have:

  • Data insight & machine learning : experience of driving insight from high volumes of data, approach to structure and deliver data insight at scale 
  • Experience of improving Digital Marketing engagement, demonstrating understanding of key digital channel KPIs and factors influencing them 
  • A passionate advocate of how technology fits within the wider business, how technology can be used to gain advantage for the business and the role it can play in the delivery of a great customer experience 
  • Understanding of the digital channels [web and app] and their role in sourcing the data. 
  • Ability to establish influential, trust based relationships across Commercial and Technology teams, developing a detailed understanding of business and operational strategies

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Experience of Web and Mobile App design and development 
  • Experience of working with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience of Mobile Telecomms 
  • Data Engineering experience : machine learning, data structuring and assessment approaches
  • Data visualisation : driving insight and visualisation of channel performance, serving both commercial and technical stakeholders, and aligned to value streams
  • Product owner experience : defining product purpose, owning and priositising product backlog, and overseeing delivery through diverse delivery functions.
  • Related qualification and proven experience in the field of Data engineering or Digital Marketing.
