The IoT Solution Architect takes the consultative lead for technical design and delivery of Vodafone’s managed connectivity and Global IoT solutions to Vodafone Business Customers within Italy and the broader Southern European Region.

Responsibilities & Competencies

The IoT Solution Architect is in charge of consulting enterprise customers in the design of IoT solutions for different applications and industries.

She/He will bring in her/his technical expertise and knowledge to understand the business environment the customer and Vodafone operate in and propose solutions based on Vodafone’s managed connectivity and IoT solution portfolio.

She/He will support the sales process from pre-sales and qualification stages, through RFP / bid and contract sign-up, all the way to implementation, deployment and successful solution acceptance testing and sign-off by the customer

This is a customer-facing role and will be required to travel to customer sites regularly.

  • Educated to BSc or MSc or an IT/EE (or equivalent)
  • Excellent Italian and English, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of cellular 3GPP / LPWAN/ radio technology, with an understanding of communication protocols (MQTT, COAP, LWM2M, etc) aspects for IoT applications
  • Knowledge of data communication, network, software application, web-based and service-based architectures (REST/SOAP), cloud and IT technologies
  • Prior Experience/Knowledge of IoT Business Arena, technology trends and competitive landscape (preferred)
  • Consistent track record in technical / pre-sales capacity
  • Customer relationship management skills with ability to interact comfortably at Director level
  • Strong communication and decision making skills - ability to balance conflicting interests
  • Preferred international experience with well developed cultural awareness
  • Strong negotiation management skills including contractual and commercial negotiation experience as technical lead
  • Experience in complex change management in a technological context
  • Team player, strong influence and relationship management skills
  • Used to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible to adapt
