The GO Data Centre Network Operations Engineer is responsible for working with different customers and vendors managing multiple medium to high complexity projects, with occasional conflicting priorities. As part of a role will also mentor junior level engineers on current standards and best practices, provide second and third level support for complex issues, problems or projects. Provides quality assurance for engineering designs, assists in training and coaching others by setting up training classes and developing “how to” guides.

 

Available to be on call 24/7 on a team rotating schedule, daily operations and E2E infrastructure implementation of the GDC Network Infrastructure and technologies across the Vodafone Data Centre footprint. He is part of an international team that provide 24/7 service coverage, keep up to date managed objects for best performance, monitor and implement customer requested solution. Interacts with high level of professionalism and confidence with key network infrastructure vendors and customers.

 

Knowledge of the network infrastructure, network equipment and cloud and NFV technologies is essential to properly manage the GDC networks and cloud solutions. Troubleshooting and network analysis capabilities are required for this role. Capability to proactively analyse the infrastructure in order to prevent problems that could reduce the network performance. Essential for the role are also soft skills as team player, basic understanding of project management and agile methodology, responsible attitude to actively drive activities to completion.

Job Responsabilities
  • Operation 24x7 including on-call duty of all network related components like router, switches, load balancer, firewalls, cloud and NFV solutions, etc…
  • Provide support to our customers with network analysis; pro-actively drive operations excellence by solving and preventing operational issues;
  • Coordinate changes initiated by Data Centre activities acting as SPOC for assigned projects
  • Actively influences operational efficiency and operability of the deployed connectivity solutions
  • Seeks clarification of risks before taking action to guarantee business continuity
  • Implementation of changes and service requests within the customer guaranteed SLA’s;
  • Manage and update information/documentation (i.e. LLD);
  • Reports on assigned projects, Incident caused by changes
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
  • Deep knowledge of data centre network routing and switching equipment operation (Cisco Nexus router and switches, F5 Load Balancers…) and of TCP/IP, Routing and switching Protocol
  • Good knowledge of data centre firewall and security equipment operation (Firewalls, Proxy Servers, VPN devices and authentication servers) and of TCP/IP, Routing and switching Protocol (mainly Juniper, Netscreen, Fortinet, Checkpoint, BlueCoat and Cisco)
  • Deep knowledge of telecommunications network systems and their services
  • Good knowledge of Data Center technologies like
    • Cisco ACI and Fabric Path, BGP, OSPF, HSRP,…
    • F5 Load Balancing, VMware NSX, ..
    • VPN, proxy, remote access,…. OSPF, VRRP,..
Must have technical / professional qualifications
  • Education level equivalent to a bachelor degree
  • Desired Vendor Certifications in routing area:
    • Cisco (CCNP or CCIE) or
    • VCE (VCE-CIA, VCE-CIAE or VCE-CIMAE) or
    • VMware NSX (VCP6-NV) or
    • F5 (BIG-IP Administrator, LTM Specialist,…) or
    • HPE (certificates for data centre, SDN and cloud solutions)
  • Desired Vendor Certifications in firewall area:
    • Cisco (CCNP or CCIE Security) or
    • Juniper  (JNCIP-SEC or JNCIE-SEC,…)  or
    • CheckPoint (CCSE or CCSM) or
    • Fortinet (Network Security or Professional (level4), or Network Security Specialist (level 6) / Architect (level7)
