Who we are:

Our diverse team is accountable for the design, development, deployment, and operations of a comprehensive device and network analytics solution including a Big Data platform, a rich web frontend, and mobile agents operating on smartphones. The solution is a key element of Vodafone’s customer care and network performance and optimization strategy and operated in about 20 markets across the Vodafone international footprint. Hundreds of analysts and engineers use the collected data to optimize Vodafone’s network and business processes based on network performance metrics we are crowd sourcing from tens of millions of devices. The team is supporting the entire solution lifecycle and is in contact with stakeholders in Vodafone Group and local Vodafone markets and Vodafone partner markets. The team is located in Dresden with colleagues working remotely from other areas in Germany and Europe.

 

Role Purpose:

Responsible of delivering and operating the device analytics platforms and respective capabilities on the device agent side – integrating both technical lead and Scrum master role elements.
The accountability of the role covers all technical functions including architecture, design, development, deployment, end to end delivery and sustaining the associated products and services. More specifically the role’s responsibilities cover:

• Being SPOC & representative for the product component, supporting the technical product owner to ensure on-time / on-budget / on-quality delivery
• Planning the objectives and priorities of the feature development, making best use of the team’s resources in line with the product vision
• Collecting, analysing, and translating feature requirements into development specification
• Ensuring technical solutions conform with architectural / solution design and coding standards and best practices
• Planning sprint iterations, tracking, reporting and managing development and delivery status and progress, as well as risks and issues of the squad and its members
• Optimising the agile process within the squad, promoting continuous improvement through retrospectives and team learning
• Deciding when a feature / release is production-ready
• Stakeholder management and roadmap alignment with Group functions (in particular Group Commercial Digital team, Technology Big Data and Networks teams), local markets / joint ventures, and partners / vendors

Main purpose is to assess the demands / product requirements raised by the customers and translate them into suitable device agent solutions. Continuous use of new and efficient development methodology and tools will be key for success as well as smart insights and report delivery.


He/She will lead an international team based in Europe.

Consumer Product & Services principles:
CP&S is applying the following design principles and operating model:
- Cloud: Development of products and services that run independent of the underlying hardware, designed to scale and run on distributed environments.
- API: Use of APIs to integrate our services and expose them as APIs to enable easy access and re-usability among other products and for integration with external partners.
- Big Data: Collection of data in real-time from our platforms and front-ends to guarantee the performance of our services. Use of advanced analytics to ensure delivery of great customer experience.
- Agile / DevOps: Working in close collaboration with the commercial team to develop the products based on iterative improvements/reviews. Integrate different roles including development  and operations in the area to support the agile / DevOps methodology with distributed team members in different locations

Portfolio Device Agent solutions as central capability for measuring network performance and customer experience and delivery of insights and reports

• Delivery: Lead the design and delivery of the Device Analytics agent capabilities and align with Group functions and local markets

• Service Management and Quality - Take accountability for the technical success of the services throughout the lifecycle. Ensure SLAs are met and provide accurate and consistent Service Quality dashboards to key stakeholders.

• Transformation: Deliver the programmes to support the business-wide transformations required to implement CP&S principles & operating model


• Leadership: Build, lead and develop excellent platform DevOps teams, maximising investment in talent and expertise. Promote a service mentality, customer experience focus and usage of state of the art tools and processes

• Supplier and partner management: Manage suppliers / partners of best value for Vodafone. Ensure that the Vodafone needs are reflected in the contracts signed with third parties and that services and products provided meet defined KPIs.
 

Apply if you have:

• Experience with agile software development and DevOps team setups and applying agile practices in enterprise environments

• Strong organisational and management skills proven in owning complex programmes with track record of successful and predictable delivery of on-time, to-budget, and to-specification projects involving multiple internal and external partners in international environments

• Profound technical background in software development and architecture with focus on  smartphone applications (Android / Kotlin). Basic understanding of iOS programming platform with ObjC / Swift.

• Deep understanding of mobile services and mobile/web technologies and architecture

• Passionate advocate of how technology and crowd sourced big data supports our business and can be used to gain advantage and improve customer experience

• Establish influential, trust based relationships across CP&S, Group Commercial and Group Technology. Develop a detailed understanding of business and operational strategies

• Technical background in mobile and fixed line network access technologies and performance and KPI monitoring.
 Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Technical degree level (M.Sc.)
• Deep practical knowledge of software development projects and delivery in agile environments (Scrum) as as well as project management best practices.
• 5+ years experience in architecture, design & development of smartphone applications / SDKs (e.g. Android, iOS)
• Excellent communication skills: ability to balance conflicting interests; technical SPOC for 3rd parties and suppliers
• Related qualification and proven experience in mobile technology, digital products or IT of at least 5 years
