Global Cyber Security’s role is to inspire trust and confidence in our customers by enabling secure connectivity.  Our purpose is to proactively protect Vodafone & its customers by reducing the risks posed by security threats to Vodafone’s global technology infrastructure and the sensitive data it holds. 


The IDPS Solution Engineer will act as Vodafone’s cyber security platform technical expert.  They will use their personal experience and judgement to be able to quickly determine the right technical treatment for the IDPS platform. They will develop a set of global platform strategies & plans. They will lead the execution of these plans through virtual & matrixed technical teams to design, build and lifecycle manage the IDPS platforms across all Vodafone global entities.


The IDPS Solution Engineer is accountable for the technical competence of the IDPS platforms.  This role is specifically tasked with understanding and managing the flows of traffic through the core IDPS devices and ensure appropriate security policies are provided to secure the traffic, preventing the ingress of malicious traffic to the environment.  The role holder will be specifically responsible for driving the implementation of the IDPS platform and policies across both Group Entities and Local markets.


The IDPS Solution Engineer will be required to operate effectively in a complex, dynamic, and constantly changing environment.  Active & compelling engagement of teams and stakeholders will be crucial in creating the momentum required.  This requires a leader who is technically competent,  an effective communicator and collaborator to deliver the consistency & risk reduction outcomes required. A close relationship and collaboration with the Secure By Design (SBD) team will be needed to guide the technical strategy and roadmap.

You Will:

• Work with the Cyber Prevent Domain Leadership team to define, and implement Vodafone’s Cyber strategy.
• Development of a set global platform plans and their execution of these plans through virtual & matrixed operational teams.
• Work in collaboration with the SBD team that defines and leads the IDPS technical strategy and roadmap.
• Act as Vodafone’s IDPS technical expert,  they will use their personal experience and judgement to be able to quickly determine the right treatment for their cyber security platforms.
• Working with the Domain leads and fellow Solution Engineers to ensure that all the cyber security platforms within the domains are: globally consistent; effective and efficient; have the right technical adequacy and coverage; and are delivering the optimum risk reduction effect.
• Proactive identification though KPI of technical improvement programmes
• Liaise with Cyber Security Demand to ensure that Platform business demands, projects and risk reduction activities are optimally scheduled and resourced.
• Acting as an ambassadors and role models for Global Cyber Security advocating for security best practice, consistency in approach.

We would like you to have:

• 5+ years of experience of the platform in a technical role as Security Consultant, Security Designer or Security Architect for IDPS
• Vendor management experience.
• Agile delivery using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
• Degree educated (or equivalent) in a relevant subject

You Must Have:
• Professional operational experience in cyber security operations or cyber security engineering, cyber security platform management.
• Knowledge of the IDPS technologies used by Vodafone, Cisco,Fortinet.
• Track record of delivering cyber security platform operations in a complex & dynamic technology environment.
• Personal experience and judgement to be able to quickly determine the right operational treatment of cyber security platforms.
• Strong analytical skills to inform effective data driven decisions on service improvement & risk reduction
• Effective collaboration across globally dispersed teams in order to deliver the consistency, and risk reduction, outcomes required.
• Active & compelling engagement of people and stakeholders, across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, up to and including Cyber Security Leadership Team level.
• Communicating & reporting concise summaries of complex scenarios & information across diverse and senior stakeholder groups.
