We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Lead, with a strong background in analytics and commercial assessment, to join our rapidly-expanding Digital Accelerator (DX) Program. As Commercial Lead you’ll be working closely with the Consumer, Enterprise and Channels Tribes to optimise outcomes of the program.  With strategic nous, you’ll be comfortable provoking thought to ensure all implications on the future performance of Vodafone are considered while translating numbers in to meaningful context.  This role is integral in ensuring the commercial cohesion of the program.


You’ll accomplish this by fostering strong relationships across the business, working closely with the DX team to ensure optimised commercial outcomes can be delivered.

What Will I Be Doing?


  • Creating strategic frameworks through which to make assessments of various choices that the DX Program is assessing.  This will include understanding the behavioural economics of our customers and linking through to commercial outcomes.
  • Building relevant capital project modelling / ‘what-if’ scenario analysis to ensure optimised commercial outcomes are achieved throughout the DX Program by IT + Migration teams.
  • Carrying out the financial & commercial assessment (including modelling of) the short & long term financial impact of various design choices made by the DX team on the company’s future.  It is expected that modelling is developed with a high degree of rigour and commerciality.
  • Ensuring that the rationale & risks associated with design choices are fully considered, including undertaking relevant sensitivity analysis.   Identify and execute opportunities to optimise commercial value in short and long term. Critical success factor will be demonstration of ability to contribute with confidence and credibility to commercial discussions and influence decisions that lead to enhanced financial performance.
  • You’re will have a “big picture” mind-set and drive a positive problem solving approach in ensuring strong outcomes can be reached.
  • Translating ranges of outcomes in to financial papers which can be easily understood by key stakeholders (including the Executive & Board).
  • Providing end to end commercial support and insight to the DX Leadership Team as DX Program accelerates.
  • Working closely with Head of Commercial – DX and wider Commercial team to ensure cumulative impacts of DX Program are understood.
  • Role modelling great leadership behaviours that will motivate, inspire and cultivate a high-performing culture.
What Will I Bring?


  • Proven track record performing a Strategy / Commercial Lead/Senior Analyst role, ideally within an enterprise technology organisation. Telco industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of experience in senior finance or commercial roles, in medium to large organisations.
  • Financial and commercial acumen and the ability to understand overall customer and business value.  An understanding of financial metrics, including linking P&L to Balance Sheet & cash flow is second nature to you.
  • High levels of experience of financial modelling and analysis of major capital projects and/or mergers and acquisitions.  Ability to manage large data and translate into simple formats.
  • Highly analytical and skilled in financial analysis; able to quickly identify and analyse risks & impacts; and able to identify and communicate alternative options. Driving sustainable profitable outcomes is motivating for you.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management at senior levels and the ability to build relationships across the business. This role will work closely with several members of the DX Leadership team and the Director of Digital.
  • You will have a can do attitude, love to work as part of a team, and are passionate about what you do. You are able to be structured, and well organised in an Agile environment.
  • This is a dynamic environment, so we’re looking for someone who uses their initiative, is proactive in identifying financial risks and has a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders, within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of Agile/Growth mind-set and experience role modelling these behaviours.
What Must I Have?


  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or relevant commerce discipline.
  • Any of a Chartered Accountant qualification / CFA accreditation / background in investment banking or economic consulting.
