Short Description

The G Band Program Manager: FTTX role is based within the Digital & Fixed Services Unit
The FTTX Program Manager’s core responsibility is the Programme Management FTTX Product and Operational development & configuration projects. The role entails creating and maintaining a framework for managing the delivery of the FTTH product & system development & configuration requirements.  The FTTX Program Manager will be responsible for the ongoing successful liaison and cooperation with the various departments and disciplines within Vodacom that contribute to the project teams, especially the IT division, their management and Agile teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

Resource allocation
Consolidate and balance demand against supply.
Stakeholder management and liaison.
Effective Programme management.
Effective management of project and business teams from diverse areas of specialisation.
Ensure the delivery of the Business Units projects are within agreed quality, time and when needed according to cost.
Track major milestones and status metrics of all projects within the Business Unit’s portfolio.
Ensure that the Business Unit portfolio roadmaps and portfolio plans are updated, agreed, measured and communicated as agreed with stakeholders.
Compile and communicate Business Unit portfolio reports as agreed with stakeholders.
Measure the Business Units portfolio delivery performance and initiate pro-active corrective actions as required to ensure delivery is within agreed targets.
Ensure programme objectives are measurable and met.
Programme scheduling of projects and initiatives - Manage delivery schedules for the Business Unit’s projects to ensure timeous implementation and compliance with requirements.
Ensure adherence to the PMO methodology, processes and governance for all of the programmes and projects managed within the Business Units portfolio.
Ensure change control procedures are adhered to.
Effective risks, issue and dependency management for the Business Unit portfolio and individual projects. 
Clear and concise reporting to Business Unit EHODs and ME on the programmes and projects status and decisions.
Manage and drive continuous Improvement Initiatives.
Maintain, re-evaluate, optimise or automate existing project management reporting.
In-depth understanding of the VC Fibre strategic framework.
In-depth understanding of the FTTX OSS / BSS systems and processes.
Review and analyse the efficiency of processes and systems and the impact on product & services launched.
Identify opportunities for innovation within the product development process and related systems.
Ensure that all parties involved in the product development process is trained in the working of the processes and systems.


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Relevant 3 year university degree or NQF level qualification (diploma, certificate) is essential
Recognized project / program management qualification (PMBOK, Prince2, etc.)
Minimum 8 years + relevant experience is essential
Proven South African telecommunications program management experience; at least 5 years experience
Broad understanding of the South African telecommunications market
Fundamental understanding of the Agile approach
Self-starter, inquisitive & problem solving mindset
Driven and self-managed individual with strong leadership skills
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to the Agile development teams
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Proven stakeholder & relationship management
Able to identify risks and escalate issues where appropriate
Analytical thinking e.g. analysing statistical trends and anomalies
Logical reasoning e.g. problem solving ability
Thorough understanding of the Agile Development processes and proven experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment, ideally as a Scrum Master
Proven experience with program management of an established product portfolio
High level of commitment and strong work ethic
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word
